Mike’s Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

Yeah, I know it’s much more cheaper [and convenient] to buy bolognese sauce from the supermarket! However, making it from ‘scratch’ gives you the sense of achievement and could, quite possibly, impress those who you live with! If you want to impress someone or you simply want to try it out for yourself, then try making Mikes Spag Bol recipe – it’s easy peasy!



  • 1 Large Onion
  • Mushrooms [Mike used button – but any variety can we used]
  • Beef Mince
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Tablespoon of Double Concentrate Tomato Purée
  • Tin of Chopped Tomatoes
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1 Beef Stock Cube [Mike used Tesco Value Beef Stock as it’s suitable for Coeliacs – according to the Coeliac UK food and drink directory]
  • Spaghetti




  1. Finely chop the onions, garlic and half the mushrooms
  2. When slightly brown, add the mince 
  3. When mince is cooked [it shall turn brown] crumble in the beef stock and stir 
  4. Add the tomato purée, chopped tomatoes and stir 
  5. Add  salt, pepper and Italian seasoning  to your liking 
  6. Cook on a low heat for 20 minutes until some of the water has disappeared [this is the time to cook your pasta!] 
  7. Drain pasta and get ready to eat!
